Piano Sonata No. 9 in E major, Op. 14, No. 1
Piano Sonata No. 10 in G major, Op. 14, No. 2
Piano Sonata No. 11 in B-flat major, Op. 22
Piano Sonata No. 12 in A-flat major, Op. 26, ‘Funeral March’

Beethoven returned to a more conventional style in his Op. 14 and Op. 22, seemingly bidding farewell to the classical sonata procedure before transforming it into a drama of epic proportions. ‘Funeral March’ Sonata (Op. 26) is the starting point of such a departure.
