Tomomi Taniguchi

Tomomi studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston from 1987 to 1990 where he obtained a degree in musical composition. During his stay in the USA, he studied with Hal Crook, Herb Pomeroy in Boston, Conrad Herwig in New York, and Bill Adam in Indiana. Currently Tomomi is actively working as a jazz trombonist, composer/arranger and producer in the Kansai area and Nagoya. Groups he is associated with include Tadao Kitano and Arrow Jazz Orchestra. CUG jazz orchestra. In addition, he is also directing his own big band Kyoto Composers Jazz Orchestra. He has played in Vietnam, Korea, Hong Kong, China, and various other occasions. Tomomi has released 4 albums to his credit: 2225 South High Street, Place I Belong, I May Not Remember, and Kyoto Composers Jazz Orchestra. Furthermore, he has produced 40 albums. Tomomi has been elected as one of the top 20 trombone players in Japan on many occasions by the Japanese jazz magazine Swing Journal. Tomomi is also actively teaching and holds teaching posts at Nagoya University of the Arts.

Tomomi performed with Patrick Lui (piano), George Gazone (saxophone), Milt Hinton (bass), Ricky Ford (saxophone), Junko Makiyama (vn), Shiho (vo), and so many others.
