Programme
On his 42nd birthday, German experimental singer and composer Michael Schiefel had an epiphany of creating a piece for his oboe-flute-voice trio with Cathy Milliken and Dietmar Wiesner. Inspired by Douglas Adam’s sci-fi novel The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and the concept of time, Schiefel’s composition revolves around the mysterious number ‘42’ and contemplates the quadragenarian life. While working on the composition, Schiefel encountered Hong Kong new media artist Vvzela Kook and the two further moulded the project into a multimedia theatre programme. Featuring new paper-based drawings alongside the notations of 42 and pop-up books with a revised storyline of Adam’s novel, the theatre production will present a kaleidoscope of musical styles and genres from different eras. Sit back, and embark on an unparalleled, time-displacing theatrical journey!
