The Oliver Schnyder Trio was scheduled to perform Beethoven’s ‘Gassenhauer’, ‘Ghost’, and ‘Archduke’ piano trios in the HKU MUSE series this Fall. While we are trying hard to reschedule the concert, Prof. Daniel Chua has invited the Trio’s pianist Oliver Schnyder and cellist Benjamin Nyffenegger to have a conversation online. Speaking from a lush garden in Switzerland, the two artists talked about their projects during the pandemic, how their personalities shape the group’s dynamics, the unique beauty composers reveal through the piano trio repertoire, as well as their experience in presenting these musical gems.
A podcast version of this dialogue is available on various platforms and an accompanying playlist featuring the music discussed is available on Spotify.
