Programme
Featuring Steven C. Tracy, Henry Chung, and the Hong Kong Blues All-Stars
To coincide with the exhibition ‘Rising Above: The Kinsey African American Art and History Collection’ currently on view at the University Museum and Art Gallery, distinguished African American studies scholar and award-winningblues musician Steven C. Tracy will present a harmonica extravaganza with Hong Kong’s premier harmonica player Henry Chung, and a hand-picked band of the area’s finest blues musicians.
Originated on slave plantations, the blues evolved from African chants, work songs, and field hollers, expressing thoughts and emotions in the face of adversity and disenfranchisement. This concert, with an all-star lineup, is a perfect opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the historical context of the musical genre, promising the audience a sonically and visually enhanced experience.
