Shao Litang Kiko
Shao Li-tang is currently a PhD (Music Composition) candidate at the University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Dr. Joshua Chan. She received her Master degree majoring music composition at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and studied composition and electronic music with Professor Law Wing-Fai and Clarence Mak. Her musical creations are very diverse, ranging from chamber music to orchestral piece, Chinese instrumental ensemble and multimedia piece.
She won the Speech Choir Young Composer Award for her The Corner of Cantonese DimSum Restaurant, which is commissioned by InTuition Creative Learning Company as a set piece for the 2012 / 2013 Speech Choir Showcase in Hong Kong. This piece was premiered at the Tsuen Wan Town Hall by different primary schools and was acclaimed a great success. Her composition A Touch of Zheng written for Guzheng solo was world premiered at the Hong Kong City Hall and has been nominated “Best Serious Composition” of 2014 CASH Golden Sail Music Awards. With her Chinese ensemble piece A purge of Soul, she was awarded the special prize in the Liu Tianhua composition competition for Chinese ensemble piece.
Her music has been performed by both internationally and locally ensembles and performers. To name a few, The Chinese Chamber Music Composition Competition in 2010, Beijing Modern Music Festival, Young China – Ten Talented Composers Chamber Music Festival in Germany and her composition Abstruse Ancient Sound for two violins has been published in compact disc series New Music form the Ancient Empire in Germany.
