Jiang Xinlai 姜馨來

Currently Associate Principal Double Bass, Jiang Xinlai joined the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in 1997. A native of Shanghai, she started double bass studies at the age of 10, and gave her debut double bass recital at the age of 15 while studying with Cao Jian at the Affiliated Middle School of the Shanghai Conservatory.

Jiang was awarded a full scholarship to study at the New England Conservatory of Music in the US in 1994 where she studied with Lawrence Wolfe, Assistant Principal Double Bass of Boston Symphony Orchestra. In 1996, she earned her place on the National Dean’s List and won the First Prize of the conservatory’s string competition. With full scholarship, she furthered her studies at The Juilliard School with Orin O’Brien from the New York Philharmonic.

Jiang participated in the Asian Youth Orchestra, the Pacific Music Festival, the Tanglewood Music Center and the National Orchestra Institute, and in 2001 was invited to perform at the International Laureates’ Music Festival in Los Angeles. Under the baton of maestro Jaap van Zweden, she performed with the HK Phil in their 2015 Europe Tour (including the Musikverein in Vienna) and their 2017 Asia Pacific Tour.

Passionate about music education, Jiang is an Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of Music, Hong Kong Baptist University.

Jiang plays a Joseph Minot double bass made in 1817.

姜馨來於1997年加入香港管弦樂團，現任副首席低音大提琴。生於上海，十歲起學習低音大提琴。於上海音樂學院附中求學時師從曹建，15歲時首度舉行獨奏會。

1994年，她獲全額獎學金赴美深造，於新英格蘭音樂學院師從波士頓交響樂團的胡費。1996年在學院弦樂比賽獲金獎，並列入全美優秀學生名單。後獲全額獎學金於茱莉亞音樂學院繼續深造，師從紐約愛樂的奧拜恩。

姜馨來曾於1994-97年參加日本太平洋音樂節、美國鄧肯活音樂中心和國家管弦樂學院的夏季音樂節，為首批入選亞洲青年管弦樂團的中國音樂家之一。2001年獲邀參與洛杉磯國際桂冠音樂節。在港樂音樂總監梵志登的帶領下，參與樂團的2015年歐洲巡演（包括維也納金色大廳）及2017年亞太巡演。

她熱衷於音樂教育，現為香港浸會大學音樂系兼任講師。

她演奏由Joseph Minot於1817年所製的低音大提琴。
