Eleanor Chu

Soprano Eleanor Tsz-wai Chu graduated from the Masters of Music in Voice Performance in the Royal College of Music (RCM), London. She studied with Sally Burgess and received coaching from Simon Lepper, Nancy Cooley, and Christopher Middleton. She has also studied with Ms. Margaret Yim during her undergraduate studies in the Chinese University of Hong Kong with various scholarships.

She performed as Angelica in Orlando by Handel, Flora in The Turn of the Screw by Britten, and Amore from L’incoronazione di Poppea by Monteverdi in the Opera Scenes in RCM in early 2018 and 2017 respectively. Other than operatic roles, she also performed as a concert soloist for different choirs such as East West Gala Chorus, Watford Chinese Association Chorus in London; and the Chung Chi Choir, Aqua Voice, and Diocesan Choral Society in Hong Kong. She held solo recitals in Recital Hall, RCM and St. Matthew’s, Bayswater in London.

Since young, she has been an active chorister. She has been in her school choirs in secondary school, Chung Chi Choir, Aqua Voice, and other choirs outside the university including Diocesan Choral Society, Flow Women’s Chorus, and Die Konzertisten. She has co-founded Voce Semplice, a chamber choir of 8 singers, and has performed three concerts in the past few years. She was also the Choral Scholar of St. Matthew’s, Bayswater in London.

Interested not only in performing as a classical singer, but she was also the Music Director and co-founder of Papillon Blue, an Acappella group run by students in CUHK. She co-directed their first Annual Concert in 2015. She performed with the group in different venues, and also performed on her own in different Shopping Centres owned by LinkREIT in January 2015 and on a radio show for the Digital Broadcasting Corporation Hong Kong Limited (DBC).
