Damara Lomdaridze 林慕華
Damara Lomdaridze joined the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in 2012. Previously she had been a member of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in New Orleans, Hong Kong Sinfonietta and City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong.
At the age of ten Damara came home and told her mother she was going to play the viola. She was fortunate that in her home town of Norman, Oklahoma she had the opportunity to learn with Wayne Crouse who had been Principal Viola of the Houston Symphony and recently moved to teach at the University of Oklahoma. Damara continued to love playing the viola and went on to receive her Bachelor of Music from Indiana University where she studied viola with Joseph de Pasquale, Atar Arad, Rainer Moog and Alan de Veritch. Damara studied with Dr George Papich while earning her Master of Music from the University of North Texas where she was recipient of the Graduate Fellowship, performed Walton Concerto as a winner of the Concerto Competition and received the Outstanding Graduate Student in Instrumental Studies Award.
She has performed with Pharos Soloists in Cyprus, Manchester Music Festival in Vermont and the National Repertory Orchestra in Colorado. Damara enjoys playing chamber music and has performed at a variety of venues in Hong Kong since moving here in 2012.
