Ho-hei Anthony Au 區顥曦
Au (b.2000) is a student composer and conductor locally raised in Hong Kong. He has recently obtained his Bachelor’s Degree of Finance in Asset Management and Private Banking (AMPB) at the University of Hong Kong with First Class Honours and all-year Dean’s Honours List, and is currently pursuing his MPhil degree in music composition under the guidance of Prof. CHAN Hing-yan. He has received numerous scholarships and academic awards in his undergraduate years, including the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Scholarship (2019-21), the Bank of East Asia Scholarship (2020-21), the Jao Yu Tsong Memorial Prize in Music (2020-21), and the Hong Kong University Alumni Prize (2020).
His composition includes a variety of orchestral, chamber, pop and electronic music. His orchestral work “Korean Variations” (2018) was premiered by the Hong Kong University Philharmonic Orchestra in 2019 with the composer himself conducting. Au’s current composition and research interest focuses on exploring the contemporary intermarriage of poetry and music in Cantonese and English medium.
