Programme
Jonathan Scales Fourchestra demonstrates with glamorous virtuosity the vitality of jazz as an ever-evolving genre, absorbing elements from other musical traditions and breaking boundaries between cultures. Their leader, Jonathan Scales, is acclaimed as having ‘a Thelonius Monk-like attitude with a Mozart creativity’ (Pan on the Net). His signature instrument, the steel pans originating from Trinidad and Tobago, imbues jazz music with a unique Caribbean hue. With their captivating spirit and extraordinary technical abilities, the musicians invite listeners to HKU to experience a vibrant and dynamic soundscape of jazz.
